Exercising with Family

Wow!  Christmastime has been full of wonderful things- including wonderful food and goodies.  But, fortunately it has also been full of a variety of exercise.  On Christmas day, it was great to get out for a walk with first my husband, then my mom-in-law as the kids played at a playground near their grandparents' home.  Living a few states apart from my in-laws does not allow the opportunity to walk and visit very often.  The next day, it was my son who took a brisk walk with me on the path his grandma usually takes for her walks.  Then, today we were invited to the "Y" with my husband's brother and family.  The girls enjoyed a yoga class while the guys took in a spinning class.  Then, we all met up for a lower body workout class.

Now, my exercise schedule will be completely different when I head back home after the holidays.  I will have to make an effort to get up earlier each morning and get on the treadmill before getting the kids up for school.  Some evenings, my daughter and I may do some exercises while listening to music.  Or, I may go for a walk while my daughter is in dance class.  Life gets busy, and things pop up unexpectedly!  Try to be flexible and creative in working in exercise most days.  Do what works for you, whether it is a quiet walk or jog some days, or an exercise DVD with the family.

As Mrs. Mississippi International, I am proud to be partnering with "Go Red for Women".  For more information on reducing your risk of heart attack and heart disease, visit goredforwomen.org.

Happy Exercising,

Thanks!

Thanks for checking in!  More to come soon...so stay tuned.  A special thanks goes to Leslie from Sister's Photography for my first official photo shoot as Mrs. Mississippi International.  Thanks, Leslie!

I hope you will join me in promoting a cause which many believe in....4-H!  Specifically, I will be focusing on ATV Safety, and the benefits of taking time for some basic safety training.  As we purchase  a variety of "toys with wheels" this Christmas season, let us remember the helmets and the importance of their proper use.  Even in my household, with me promoting safety, I have to be on guard for one of us dashing out the  door without a helmet.  Let's work hard to promote safety on wheels!  (More on brain injury prevention in later posts.)

Wishing you and your family a Merry Christmas and a Safe Holiday!
